Adult and Teen Student Work

Student work varies widely in materials, subject matter and technique. That is because we are all different in how we see the world and how we express what we see.
The variety makes for interesting classes as we discover where we want to go with our creativity and what we learn from each other. 
When a student is unsure of what materials they want to work in I encourage exploring first. Acrylic and oil and charcoal are all very different and every person will find their favorite.

For  both Adult and Teen classes I teach at the easel, meaning each student is learning at their own pace, in the art materials of choice and working on their own projects. I work with students on creative discovery: finding their subject matter, materials preference and trying different approaches.
Students learn in oil, acrylic, water color, pastel, charcoal and pencil, pen, marker and ink.

Teen students are often on a portfolio track, they will work in a variety of materials and subjects. I utilize college level instruction, guiding them to learn a wide range of solid foundation skills.
​Youth classes are group teaching. We experiment with lots of different materials, the projects are anchored by art history and the elements and principles of fine art.

Virtual Workshops:
Color Theory: Mixing, layering and understanding color.
Perspective: Understanding the rules of creating dimension, distance and depth in painting and drawing.
